In 2014, Norte Maar returned to the North Country of upstate New York. This time creating space in the heart of the Adriondacks! We call this the Jay House.

Just like our early beginnings in the Village of Rouses Point (where Norte Maar was first established in 2004) at the Jay House, Norte Maar began forming new freindships and partnerships with artists and organizations serving the Au Sable River Valley. The result of these partnership initiated a summer artist tour called Au Sable River Valley Studio Tour. Embracing the already well established history of ceramics in the region, Norte Maar launched a summer exhibition series called The Jay Invitational of Clay.

Norte Maar’s Artist-In-Residence Program at the Jay House offers artists housing for a week with studio space in the barn and the Au Sable River to wade in. The program also aims to introduce artists to new communities and communities to new artists. The program is supported in part by The Friends of Norte Maar. This is an invitation only residency.
