Fall Art Openings Art in Full Swing: NM opens Jennifer Melby Editions, Katie Hillary, Bushwick Daily, Nov 6, 2014

__________Bushwick, Brooklyn—Norte Maar is pleased to present Jennifer Melby Editions: 18 Years of Intaglio Prints, November 7-December 14 at Schema Projects (92 St. Nicholas Avenue, Brooklyn). An opening reception will be held November 7, 7-10pm.

Master printer Jennifer Melby first opened her etching studio in 1978 on the Bowery in New York City. In 1995 she relocated to her current address in Boerum Hill in downtown Brooklyn, working  with artists collaboratively and selectively to develop small yet striking limited editions. In 1996 she began publishing through Jennifer Melby Editions.

This exhibition, the first of its kind, will focus on this collaborative exchange between artists and printer, offering a cohesive look at Melby’s stunning publishing history with the artists Tom Burckhardt, Joanne Greenbaum, Red Grooms, Paul Mogensen, Robert Moskowitz, Andrew Spence, Craig Taylor, and Nicola Tyson.  It  will also feature a selection of commissioned work, including editions Melby has produced with the artists Donald Baechler, Julia Jacquette, Sol LeWitt, Brice Marden, Dorothea Tanning, and others.

Prints made in Jennifer Melby's studio are in many contemporary print collections, including those of the Museum of Modern Art, the New York Public Library, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Houston Museum of Fine Art, the Davidson Art Museum, the Smith College Museum of Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
