About Beat Nite.

Beat Nite originated in February 2009 by curator Jason Andrew and the creative team of Norte Maar to bring awareness and access to the growing artistic community of Bushwick, Brooklyn. Recognized for putting this vibrant Bushwick art scene on the map, the event has gone on to thrive as a bi-annual event. In the fall of 2015, Norte Maar launched a new initiative with the Beat Nite program to feature new emerging artistic communities in Brooklyn and beyond. Past Beat Nite’s have focused on the creative neighborhoods of Gowanus and Downtown Brooklyn.

About Norte Maar.

Norte Maar for Collaborative Projects in the Arts is a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization founded in 2004 by curator Jason Andrew and choreographer Julia K. Gleich with a founding mission to create, promote, and present collaborations among the visual, literary and performing arts to connect emerging artistic communities and unite cultural forces to foster artistic expression and raise the imaginative energy in us all.

About Greenpoint Gallery Night.

The historic neighborhood of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, is filled with exceptional galleries, alternative exhibition spaces, and working artists. In order to bring more attention and cohesion to the arts in this unique part of Brooklyn, Scott Chasse (Calico) and Lia Post (Fowler Arts) voluntarily organized an informal directory of art spaces and organizations located in Greenpoint. Greenpoint Gallery Night began in Spring of 2013 and continues as a bi-annual event currently organized by Chasse and Owen Houhoulis (Owen James Gallery).
