Kathryn Posin to lead CounterPointe 2016 post performance talk back

Joining the growing list of dance luminaries that have included Karole Armitage, Antonia Franceschi, Claudia Jeschke, Kat Wildish and Gabrielle Lamb, Kathryn Posin will lead a talk back with choreographers presenting at CounterPointe 2016 following the Saturday, April 9 performance.

Kathryn Posin studied composition with Louis Horst, Anna Sokolow, Merce Cunningham and Hanya Holm. Choreographed works for Ballet West, Netherlands Dans Theater I and II, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, The Eliot Feld Ballet, The Ohio, Kansas City, Sacramento, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Louisville, Hartford Ballets, BalletMet, Nevada Ballet, and Cloudgate Dance Theater of Taiwan. In theater she choreographed the hit rock musical, Salvation with Richard Gere and Bette Midler and The Cherry Orchard at Lincoln Center with Meryl Streep and Raul Julia directed by Andre Serban.With her 2012 Fulbright to Bulgaria she staged two works for the National Ballet of Bulgaria, which took her Scheherazade to Doha, Qatar. She has received awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, NYSCA and the NEA and LMCC. Ms Posin designed the Joffrey/New School B.F.A. in Dance and was Founding Chair. She holds an MA from NYU and a B.A. from Bennington College. She teaches World Dance and Choreography at the Gallatin School of NYU. This coming Fall her Scheherazade will open the season for the Milwaukee Ballet. The Kathryn Posin Dance Company, founded in 1973, has presented two seasons recently at the Harkness Dance Festival of 92Y.Read a recent interview with Kathryn Posin here.
