NM's Fête de Danse returns to the North Country
Norte Maar is pleased to announce the return of Fête de Danse, one of the North Country’s signature dance events! From 2004-2009 Fête de Danse ran in succession at the Civic Center in Rouses Point and was presented in collaboration with the Rouses Point Historical Society. The event brought renowned local, regional, and international dance companies together in a converted ice rink for a night celebrating dance and the Rouses Point community. This August, Fête de Danse returns full steam as Norte Maar collaborates with the Strand Center for the Arts to bring back this summer event.
NM announces an epic exhibition of ceramics in the North Country!
Norte Maar announces its heroic return to the North Country with an epic exhibition of ceramics presented in collaboration with Jay Craft Center. The first annual Jay Invitational of Clay: an exhibition featuring an international selection of works in clay curated by Jackie Sabourin will open to the public on Friday, July 18 from 5-9pm at the Jay House, Norte Maar’s new home in the Adirondacks.
NM returns to the North Country!
Norte Maar celebrates its 10th Anniversary announcing a bold return to its roots in the North Country with two epic summer events. On July 18, Norte Maar will present the first annual Jay Invitational of Clay an exhibition curated by one of the North Country’s most prominent artisans and teachers Jackie Sabourin. On August 1, Norte Maar brings back Fete de Danse, one of its most signature North Country summer dance events.

Bushwick Open Studios looks to be another huge year for arts in Bushwick! At press time there were 581 online registered events (down only slightly from last year's 598 registered users) filling a weekend with art and performance. We worked over the very user friendly Arts in Bushwick website and compiled Norte Maar's 2014 list of not to miss events, exhibitions, and studios... or at least those that we'll not miss!!!! Similar to last year, all events/exhibitions/studios are divided into six zones stretching the geographic lines which make up the creative neighborhood of Bushwick.
Norte Maar collaborates with Socrates Sculpture Park to present SOUNDEVENT
Long Island City, NY–In conjunction with Socrates Sculpture Park’s annual celebration of the Summer Solstice on June 21, Socrates Sculpture Park collaborates with Norte Maar to present SOUND EVENT an evening of site-specific sound performances at Socrates Sculpture Park. For this event, which will encompass the entire park, noted sound artists will create unique sound platforms through traditional instrumentation, amplification of objects, juxtaposition of voices, and experimental electronic sound.

CounterPointe Choreographer, Nikki Hefko talks about choreography
Born in Mobile, Alabama, Nikki Hefko trained at Mobile Ballet (Mobile, AL), Ballet Hysell (New Orleans, LA), New Orleans Ballet Ensemble (New Orleans, LA), and the Dance Theatre of Harlem School (New York City). She was a company member with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, under the direction of Arthur Mitchell. While at DTH, she toured the states and abroad dancing a full repertoire of classical, neo-classical, and contemporary ballets. Additionally, Nikki danced with Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, The Metropolitan Opera, and other national companies as a free-lance artist.

Eryn Renee Young is co-founder and resident choreographer of XAOC Contemporary Ballet, a New York City-based neoclassical ballet company founded in 2010.
