Roberto Jamora, Norte Maar

Join us as we welcome 2018 with our annual New Years Brunch featuring a pop-up exhibition and talk with Brooklyn-based artist, Roberto Jamora, Saturday, January 6, 11am-1pm at our gallery in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. Artist talk will start prompt at 12noon.

Roberto Jamora recently returned from a three-month artist residency at the Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans. He worked prolifically on his Sports Abstraction and Passing Memories series. The paintings at the pop-up at Norte Maar will be from the latter series. Many of the paintings that will be on view are influenced by his research into the history of Filipino immigrants who settled in and around New Orleans during the 19th century. The paintings are minimal and explore the power color has to evoke memory, both real and imagined. Norte Maar, 88 Pine Street, Brooklyn, NY 11208
