Painter Hermine Ford joins us for Authors and Artists

The painter Hermine Ford joined us today for our Authors and Artists Program at the Bushwick Library. Jason Andrew selected a new book, appropriate to the upcoming holiday, to share with the kids titled Thanksgiving Rules by Laurie Friedman and illustrated by Teresa Murfin. Then Hermine spoke with the kids about how nature influences her work. Hermine brought in two examples of her work, a small painting and a framed drawing. The kids thought it was amazing! Next, Jason and Hermine with the help of our terrific program assistant Silvia Cruz, led a project where by the kids made artwork by tracing and rubbing a variety of leaves collected from the nearby Maria Hernandez Park. A special thanks to Hermine Ford for sharing your time and talents with us!For more images, click here.
