On the occasion of our exhibition MONDRIAN80, an exhibition celebrating abstract art eighty-years after the death of Piet Mondrian, an audience of friends and artists made a pilgrimage to Mondrian’s grave site in the Cypress Hills Cemetery. Su Friedrich, the Brooklyn based film director, producer, writer, and cinematographer who has been a leading figure in avant-garde film making and a pivotal force in the establishment of Queer Cinema, documented the encounter which featured a performance choreographed by Julia K. Gleich and danced by Gleich, Timothy Ward, and Jason Andrew. The following is a photo essay captured by Friedrich.
