A roof top in Bushwick, Brooklyn
Bushwick, Brooklyn-A self-sustaining summer series that offers pioneering artists in dance and movement-based forms a shared initiative for the development and performance of new works. RoofTop Dance introduces a framework for the development of community and dialogue by identifying, supporting and presenting our current generation of emerging and established artists.
It began in 2010 as ChoreOBJECTography, an experiment in parallel process using objects as a point of collective origin. The successful presentation of 25 artists over three events marked a major step in the establishment of a new artist run presenting series in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
This year RoofTop Dance invited four groups of six artists to participate in a new experiment. Each of these groups was asked to engage in a conversation about their perspective on making work. From these conversations a set of questions was developed that served as a unifying component in the creation of their works.
Curated and produced by Benn Rasmussen, Anna Adams Stark, Raja Feather Kelly, Caitlin Marz and Edward Rice and co-produced with Norte Maar.
