Brooklyn, NY—Norte Maar in collaboration with Brooklyn Ballet is pleased to announce the return of CounterPointe, a new series presenting new choreography by women dance makers working with the pointe shoe. CounterPointe 2013 will be presented at the Actors Fund Arts Center (160 Schermerhorn Street, Brooklyn), Nov 1-3. To learn more about this new series click here.
Investigating new and old territory, CounterPointe highlights new work, opens up discussion, and creates a forum for women, young and old, emerging and established to take risks. The series is dedicated to presenting the latest work that shows a depth of investment in ballet by women dance makers choreographing with the pointe shoe–where the pointe shoe is central to the choreography. This series made its inaugural presentation in Brooklyn at the Actors Fund Arts Center in 2012. In June 2013, the series made its London premiere at the Broadway in Barking.
Applications are now being accepted for the second annual performance series that will feature emerging and established women choreographers. Deadline for submissions: September 28.
Venue: The Actors Fund Arts Center, 160 Schermerhorn Street, Brooklyn. Please note that there will be minimum technical support. Stage dimenions: 23 feet deep by 40 feet wide.

Performances*: Fri, Sat, Nov 1, 2 at 7:30pm / Sun, Nov 3 at 4pm
*If selected, your work will appear in at least one of the performances.
